Jameson Julep

Jameson Julep

(serves 1)

Whiskey, mint, sugar, and limes…what else do you need?!! Maybe some horse races.  Otherwise this is a very refreshing cocktail perfect to kick off the warm weather.

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup mint leaves

2 ounces whiskey (I love Jameson–but pick your poison–traditionally Juleps use bourbon)

4 ounces soda water

1/2 lime

1 sprig mint

In a small saucepan combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar and mint leaves.  Bring to a slight boil until sugar is completely dissolved.  Allow to fully cool (about 20 minutes).  Remove mint leaves.

In a pint glass, add ice and mix in whiskey, 2 ounces of minted simple syrup, and soda water.  Squeeze in the juice of half of a lime and stir.  Garnish with a mint sprig.  Enjoy!
